Speaker: Lebo Ramafoko, The fullness of our being | “We have created a system that thrives on our insecurities. And so we mask our vulnerabilities instead of embracing them.”
These were the words of Lebo Ramafoko, CEO of Soul City addressing guests at last month’s Harvest Table out at the lush and tranquil Naledi Farm.
Reflecting on Ramafoko’s talk, Samuel Maifadi, owner of Naledi Farm says: “as we received her to her seat it immediately became clear that we were in the midst of African Royal Ancestry, both incarnate and discarnate. Sis Lebo has this presence that speaks volumes even in silence, and a voice that transmits straight from heart to heart.”
Titling it “the fullness of being”, Ramafoko began by locating this topic as a deep yearning, a longing and a prayer to experience the very fullness of being. That state of absolute peacefulness and contentment where one can say without a shadow of doubt, “it is well with my soul.” She posed the question: how do we get there and what barriers and traumas prevent us from getting there?
She highlighted the seemingly irreversible atrocities plaguing our lives: the working class rat race, extremist killings, misogyny, violence, political scandals, climate change, the trauma of lack, etc.
